Transmedia Storytelling for Creators: How Adapting Your Script Across Multiple Media Can Help It Find Its Audience!

Transmedia Story telling is telling a story across multiple media platforms, where each platform makes a distinct contribution.

In traditional storytelling, only one platform and medium is used to tell the story, while transmedia storytelling uses multiple media and platforms such as audio drama, books, films, TV shows, animations, video games, and social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,…) to tell the story.

With traditional storytelling, audiences passively receive a story through a single medium like a book or film. Transmedia allows audiences to actively engage with a story world across platforms, each providing a unique perspective. Fans can immerse themselves deeper and in different ways, across various media, resulting in a highly interactive and participatory experience.

The goal is to provide unique storytelling experiences tailored to different platforms.

This session will discuss creating an audio drama, or audio documentary, from your TV or film script to help audiences connect with the story through podcasting, radio, or social media, as well as bringing your audio production to film, TV, or a book.

This session will be hosted by award-winning audio producer / director Sue Zizza, of SueMedia Productions. Along with working with many independent creators, Sue’s sound clients have included: PBS, Audible, Blackstone, McMillan Publishers, Cleo TV, and the USA Networks-Sci-FiChannel. From 1996 – 2008, Sue served as the Executive Director of the National Audio Theatre Festivals (NATF) with whom, in 2013, she helped found the HEAR Now Festival. Joining Sue will be:

Andre Degas – Playwright / Co-Producer & Co-Director “Day By Day” – currently nominated at NJ Web Fest for Best Drama, Best Premise of a Scripted Audio Fiction, and Best Writing Script of an Audio Fiction. “Day By Day” was adapted from a stage play.

Cory Wexler Grant – Writer / Producer / Director film “Pat Price,” currently producing audio drama of this film script.

Jennifer Jiles – Co-Writer / Producer “Curveballs” – currently nominated for at NJ Web Fest for Best Comedy, Best Leading Performance in a Scripted Audio Fiction (Jennifer Jiles, Christine Lawrence), Best Supporting Actor (Byron Marc Newson, Willie Rivers), and Best Supporting Actor Nada Gan (Dasha). Curveballs was adapted from a TV series.

The Pitch is Back!

Back by popular demand! Dan Pasternack will return to NJ WebFest to discuss the art of the pitch. You have a great show, but you need that "pitch" to sell it! Dan Pasternack has been in the business of making television and digital entertainment for many years, and he has been on both sides of the pitch table, so he knows what executives are looking for. During his career, he has worked as a producer, a programmer, a studio and production company executive, and a writer.
